ENGINEERING 1 YEAR PLACEMENT STUDENT

Job Description: We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated engineering student to join our team for a 1-year placement. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable industry experience and to apply your academic knowledge in a professional setting. As a placement student, you will be working closely with our team of engineers and will be involved in a variety of exciting and challenging projects.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting senior engineers in the design and analysis of structures using various software packages
- Preparing drawings, models and reports using AutoCAD, Revit and other engineering software
- Conducting site visits and surveys to gather information and liaising with contractors and architects
- Collaborating with colleagues on a range of projects, ensuring delivery of high-quality work
- Contributing innovative ideas and solutions to design challenges
- Participating in regular team meetings and presenting your work to the team
Qualifications and Experience:
- Studying towards an Engineering degree (Civil or Structural) at a recognized university
- Excellent academic record with a predicted minimum of 2:1 (or equivalent) grade
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles and the ability to apply theoretical concepts in a practical setting
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and other engineering software packages
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take on responsibility
- A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards work and learning
- Eligibility to work in the UK for the duration of the placement

Responsibilities:
- Lead and collaborate passionately on a diverse variety of exciting projects that range from Grade I* listed refurbishments to modern new builds up to a value of £ 20 million
- Develop and produce high-quality designs and drawings that meet all necessary specifications and standards
- Communicate design ideas clearly to clients, architects, and contractors
- Manage workflow and be personally organised
- Mentor and manage junior engineers
- Contribute to identifying new business opportunities
- Be a project champion and proactively strive to exceed expectations and become a clear communicator of technical output with clients and design teams
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of proven Structural Engineering experience
- Chartered or near chartered
- Excellent conceptual design ability
- High aptitude in Structural Engineering design, calculations, and specifications in all basic materials
- Strong leadership and managerial skills
- Good communicator with excellent written and verbal ability

- Practical understanding of design codes: Eurocode
- Excellent attention to detail, with good sketching ability
- Practical detailing sensibility
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
